Terry Huber selected for Community Foundations “Spirit of Giving” Award

Congratulations to Terry Huber for receiving the prestigious “Spirit of Giving” award given by the Vanderburgh Community Foundation. Lampion Center nominated Terry Huber for the Spirit of Giving Award for his many years of service and passion to the agency. Terry has been involved with Lampion Center, formerly Family and Children's Service, for over 14 years. During that time, he served as Vice President, President of our Board (4 years), and Chairman of our Development Committee. He has personally donated to our organization at the President's level for many years.

Terry has been passionate about sharing with others our mission, and more recently our Stewards of Children child sexual abuse prevention program. Terry courageously shares his own family’s experience with child sexual abuse, as a way to educate friends, family, and peers to support this most important work. Terry does none of this for his personal glory...he knows that his life is more about service to others, than recognition.  His leadership has made an indelible difference to Lampion Center and the children we serve! Thank you Terry for your relentless compassion to reach out to our community with your gifts and your talents.

Barb Dicken, Executive Director of Vanderburgh Community Foundation gave Mr. Huber a check for $2500 to give to a non-profit of his choice. He chose Lampion Center and we are so grateful to Terry and the Vanderburgh Community Foundation and Board for all your hard work and dedication to the non-profits in our community!

 City of Evansville Endowment Fund

On November 20, the City of Evansville Endowment Fund granted Lampion Center $6200 to replace a furnace that was over 20 years old. Lampion Center has a multipurpose room that monthly serves over 250 children, individuals, and families with community educational programs that will change lives. Last March we were informed that the heat pump furnace unit that warms this room would not last another season. This grant came at the perfect time, and we will now have a warm room to reach out to serve our community in. Thank you to the Board and the Directors of the City of Evansville Endowment Fund! This grant truly came in just at the perfect time and we are so grateful.

Christian Science Society of Boonville Indiana Irrevocable Trust

Mark Hendrickson, President of Peoples Trust and Savings Bank, along with the Trust Committee greeted the 2009 fall grant recipients of the Christian Science Society of Boonville Indiana Irrevocable Trust. The award ceremony was held at their Paradise branch where they gave away over $75,000 to 16 non-profits in the community! An award of 4,000 was given to Lampion Center to be used to hold five Stewards of Children child sexual abuse programs in the Warrick County community. What the Trustees for the bank did not know was their grant of $4000 was matched by Darkness to Light’s federal grant program.  This grant has now become a grant worth $8,500! We thank Peoples Trust and Savings Bank and the Christian Science Irrevocable Trust committee for collaborating with us to bring the Stewards of Children child sexual abuse prevention program to Warrick County!
